Wilderness First Aid

This 2-Day, 16-hour course taught by the professional instructors of the Wilderness Medical Associates will prepare students to manage a medical event in the back-country. This course is perfect for those that engage in day or overnight trips or are looking to become outdoor professionals. Topics include the assessment and management of traumatic injuries, circulatory, nervous, and respiratory system problems, common injuries such as blisters, sprains, and strains, and use of improvised materials in remote settings.

Important Information
Upon completion of the course, students will receive a 3-year WFA Certification. A separate CPR workshop will be offered as part of the class.

Instructor
We believe that whomever teaches the course has a huge effect on your preparedness to deliver critical medical treatment in the field. This course is taught by Jon Tierney, owner of Acadia Mountain Guides. Jon is one of the nation’s most experienced wilderness medicine instructors with over 1500 teaching days and extensive real-life mountain and street rescue experience. He is a flight paramedic and an internationally licensed IFMGA mountain guide.
