Vinalhaven E-Bike Tour

Let Maine Sport Outfitters Take you to the Islands!

Join Maine Sport as our guides lead an e-bike tour to Vinalhaven Island where we’ll pedal past inlets, coves and quarries  and ride  through the fishing village.   Tours begin in our Rockland store where Maine Guides will outfit you with your e-bike and bike helmet.  We’ll ride down to the Rockland ferry landing and roll our bikes onto the boat for the crossing to Vinalhaven.  Once we disembark at the ferry landing, we’ll pedal out along Granite Island Road, loop past the granite quarries for an impromptu history lesson on how Maine’s granite industry built the East Coast’s cities, and head over to Geary’s Beach or Lawson’s Quarry where we’ll enjoy a boxed lunch.  After lunch, we’ll head north toward Brown’s Head light and a view of North Haven and the Camden Hills.   If you’re lucky our guides will describe the tragic sinking of the Royal Tar, a circus ship bound for Portland that left elephants and camels swimming for their lives in Penobscot Bay.  Eventually, we’ll retrace our steps, dip our feet (or more) in one of the quarries and head back  to Vinalhaven village for ice cream and the ferry back to Rockland and pedal the few remaining blocks back to our Rockland store.

Time: 10am to 4:15pm

Challenge Level: Medium | Approximately 10 miles of cycling

Cost: $175 per person (includes round trip ferry tickets)

The e-bikes were easy to ride & well maintained. David Berez was a fabulous guide: personable and shared great information and stories . The trip exceeded our expectations in every way

Ryker is great guide as he led us around the island. Enjoyed seeing the sights. Lunch was not good but we understand that will be soon corrected.

The leader was great taking us on this bike trip through Vinalhaven, allowing us time to eat lunch and cool off at a pictures quarry. I would highly recommend this trip.
